🦄 What do you do as a Digital designer?

40 hours | Antwerpen/Stockholm/Groningen/Utrecht/Remote

We are looking for experienced and multi-disciplinary digital or user-experience designers to work as part of our cross-functional design teams. You are skilled in relevant design disciplines and use them to create compelling and effective human-centered experiences. You will work closely with other Product managers, UX-designers, UI-designers and UX-researchers. 

From inception to launch, you will be the voice of our users and will make sure that this voice is heard in the products you will be working on. You are required to be able to speak fluently English and Dutch as you are expected to do research and testing with local users.

Together, we will explore and discover what is needed to realize this mission.  The Digital design team is organized in multiple cross-functional sub-teams, who create innovative and educational products and services that stand out in the European landscape.  Products that are beautiful and a delight for the user, and make a difference in learning. 


✨ What levels are we recruiting for?

We are hiring designers and researcher at all levels, and we are looking for people from diverse backgrounds who can work together to help us build great products that make a real impact. We have a growth oriented career model, that can allow you to join at the right level, but also to learn from your peers and other senior designers to grow and develop over time.

  • As a medior ux-designer, you have demonstrated experience of 3+ years in design and or research in a larger team setting. You are a managing and executing different tasks independently within the design process and are growing as designer to take the lead as a specialist in a specific an area. As you progress as a medior designer, you are starting to carry out more complex challenges with the support of a senior designer and design leadership, and at the same time start to coach and support medior designers.
  • As a senior ux-designer, you are leading the design for an entire area or suite of products, and leading other UX designers in their area. You are an outspoken expert in all domains within the design process, lead a team of medior and junior designers in planning and execution and contribute to strategic discussions with product management and principal engineering.

Job requirements

📖 Who are you?

While we don't like creating a detailed set of criteria that then filters out some potentially great candidates, it is important you have an idea of the type of thing we will be looking for after you apply - so please take these as a guide, but if you are uncertain please don't let it stop you applying!

  • You are skilled and have experience in user-experience design, interaction-design and/or UI-design of end-to-end experiences for digital products. 
  • You are skilled and have experience in conducting product or user research in an applied product setting, to understand and validate your end-to-end experience.
  • You will be designing and leading workshops with senior stakeholders to analyse business goals and requirements, uncover user needs, understand personas and sketch user journeys/experiences.
  • You will support your team on problem-framing, ideation and solution validation using a design-thinking lens.
  • You understand how to push design forward in a product team with ideas and provoking concepts.
  • You understand the importance of inclusive and accessible design and know how to articulate that.
  • You are a master of your own design stack, for example Figma, Sketch and Invision
  • You have experience in the working with design-systems and are able to use and contribute to it. 
  • You have a thorough understanding of Agile, Design-thinking, Lean and Des/Dev ops methods and principles.

  • You are able to communicate fluently in Dutch and English.

⏳ What happens after you apply?

  • Your application will be reviewed by Alexander (Digital Design Lead) and Eline (HR) to do a first review. When we want to proceed, we aim to have a response within 5 working days with regards to the next step. If there is no next step we will also let you know and explain why.
  • The first call will be with Alexander and Eline, to have a quick conversation about both your expectations and personal details - we don't want to waste your time if there is anything that will make it not work out regardless of how amazing you are.
  • You will be invited to a teams call with two of our designers (their level will depend on your level and will be from different teams), who will discuss your work so far and your ideas and vision on design. This is also an excellent opportunity to discuss any questions you may have.
  • If successful we will contact you to make an offer, if not, we will contact you to let you know why not.

  • We won't do any white board algorithm excercises, we are focused more on getting to know you as a human being and future colleague.
  • We will treat you with respect at all times and provide feedback if you are not successful.
  • We do not hire into specific teams, you are applying for a job within the wider UX team, and you will get the opportunity to meet different teams when you join and have a say about where you want to work.
